Just over 4 weeks ago Myself and 4 of My mates were doing a Sunday ride. Luckily I was on My "Ol Harris Bonneville" otherwise I think things may have been a lot worse.as I am sure the T Bird would not have been a nimble or evasive as the Ol Bonne turned out to be.

I was out running Lead as I can down a road with divided lanes going around a corner. I could see a car parked off the side of the road . As I approached the car I saw the brakes lights go and then go off, I though to myself "MATE Surly Your not going to turn " and then Yep when I was about 10 mtrs away from it He did the U Turn. right in front of me. as I swerved away from them I thought "Orrrrrrrrr Fuck this is going to hurt". and bang straight into the Right Hand Front Bumper.
After I finally stopped and hopped around on one leg for about 15 minutes, and a mouth full of abuse from one of My mates the driver who turned out to be a German backpackers finally came down to see how I was going. I said what the Fuck Happen and His answer was " So Sorry Didn't see you" well you can guess what response that got. something Like " You f*&$%N arse hole you just nearly killed me" + a few more. As expected because there was no Blood & Guts so cops didn't want to know about it. But I can assure you I Let them know all about so that it was covered for Insurance purposes. I also took photos of International Drivers Licenses and Hire Vehicle Rental Agreements which came in handy when rounding the coppers up and getting them interested.

The Ol Bonne got off pretty easy with Just a severely bent LH Foot rest and the LH Muffler damaged. I didn't get off a lightly, after visiting 2 HospitaL Emergency Departments and pulling the wallet out of the pocket and a lot of Ice and X Rays on the Monday morning. I was given the good news late on Monday Afternoon . "Quick Go and buy a moon boot you have a severely bruised foot with the end bone broken off the Tibia and The Big Toe is also Cactus".
Also thanks to Youi Insurance, As I had no fault in the accident they have been excellent to deal with, and being an Ol Classic they just told me to to submit the Invoices for the Parts and charge them some labor and it will be looked after, A couple of weeks after the accident when I got all the invoices together, I submitted them at 12,45pm and the money was in the bank by 1.10pm the same day.

Back to the "Quack " today and the all clear is given to get rid of the moon boot. The Doctors Advice or Order is "But be very very careful riding the Bikes and Changing gears". So being Old and Wise and just a little bit Stupid I might give it another week before I test out the "Repair Job On the Foot"

The Bitumen verge can be seen where the Offending car was parked.

Thats where I ended up down the road around the corner at the end of it. the Backpackers on the RHS of the picture wonder "Ah Fuck what do we do now?"

The Offending Vehicle, Backpackers & Wicked Campers" Errrrrrrrrrrag, Loosened the front Bumper and Removed their Fog Light, The Blue is from the "Kevlar Jeans" and the black is from My Alpinestar Boots.

The Latest Fashion Accessory, NOW GONE. Thank F%*k.

Moral of the Story. As we all should know: WATCH THOSE "WICKED CAMEPRS" and they are what they are. A F%@&$n NUISANCE.

Glad your'e ok Gerry, I reckon most of us have had close calls before, even though you went that one step further & lucky you had the right gear on.
A couple of months ago a mate of ours came to grief as another bike rider did a U-turn in front of him on a main highway heading back into town. The other rider saw someone else had broken down & was attempting a U-turn to go back & offer assistance to to other guy. (he didn't look properly to see if it was all clear) & the mate had to brake heavily to avoid a collision & went cunt up off his Harley.
The outcome was he had to be flown by Flying Dr to Adelaide for surgery to a badly broken arm & skin grafts.
I've just renewed my Youi insurance (agreed value), am glad they are good to deal with, I think you're the first to mention this.

Cheers, Guido.

Those wicked vans and cars are a PIA, they are always using public conveniences like ensuites, camping nearby for days and making a mess.

Yeah thanks to you Guido . I followed your original lead and went with Youi on the TBird for $214.00, Then I was going to do only Third Party Property on the Ol Bonne for $78.00 but luckily for $135 I took out Comprehensive Cover on that , Since then I have taken the House & Contents and both My Ute and the MD's Mazdaratti across and saved another $1100.00.

Our neighbor 2 doors down swapped over her Business + 2 Cars + House & Contents and came out just over $3k in front.

and Yes Lee, Those Wicked Campers mob are EXACTLY what you see is what you get. the dickheads said they looked but looked in the LH Mirror, There have been quite a few accidents up here involving Foreign Tourist "Doing what comes naturally" which is the opposite to what we do over here. Don't know how their licensees get checked. Dont think they do.

Could have been worse. Now, if you were riding a lot faster you would have gone past him before he turned.. but I am glad you came out in one piece and its good to hear a good story about an insurance company.
